Singapore airport - again!

Hi folks, We've reached Singapore. I'm writing this post from the transit hotel using the free internet. Yeah!! We can't post any photos yet. Our cameras are with our luggage and our luggage is in transit to Istanbul. We have 6 hours here in transit at Singapore and it's 6:39pm Sunday as I write this. Not sure what that is NZ real time. We board the Boeing 777-300 to Istanbul sometime round midnight. But this transit hotel is pretty fantastic. It has nice coffee, free food, showers, massages, and nap rooms!! I could spend the three weeks here. Nay. Just kidding. Not much else to report, Ciao, Paul and Marie

  1. Great to hear you have completed the first substantial leg. If you can get out of Singapore (unlike a few years ago!) you'll have it made! Can't wait to see photos when you have them, Tekla

  2. Hi Everyone
Well we've definitely arrived in Israel. We've tried to put this up as a new posting but as everything comes up in Arabic we can't decipher what we need to do!
It was a mammoth flight over here. We arrived here in Jerasulem last night about 10.20 after either being in the air or waiting in airports for the best part of 48hrs. Hideous but well worth the effort of getting here. It wasn't a particularly great experience coming through Istanbul and one of our group traveling on a Tongan passport was refused entry. Because we had about 7hrs delay again day rooms at a local hotel had been arranged for us so that meant going through immigration. We got put through the hoops as we checked in to fly here to Israel.
Today has been an amazing experience. I actually struggle to find words to describe the experience of being within the walls of the Old City of Jerasulem and witnessing the diversity of cultures and being in the places of such religious significance to us as Catholics.
It's quite hot here and muggy, with a cloud cover hanging over the city. The roads are good but the walkways are cobbled and very slippery and I took a big tumble this afternoon. A big ouch and a few choice swear words to accompany grazed hands, knees and fingers.
Tomorrow is a big day for us with am early start.
We can't put up any photos yet as we really need to go to an Internet cafe and there aren't any in the old city. We haven't yet been to the western quarters where there should be some.
